Every Single Time
It seems that every time I come back to Steemit to give it one more chance they go and do something crazy and counterproductive. This splitting the wallet and Steemit may not be a bad idea - mostly because Steemit will be dead and gone before you know it - but because they did this with no warning and no way to record all your keys before making the change. Another unnecessary pain in the ass that drives people away. Seriously, if not for Steem Monsters and Drug Wars I would say power down, dump your Steem, and run away as fast as you can. Only those two games - and more if they are ready to release - will save this blockchain.

I heard the change was coming. I'm pretty sure they did it to boost the viability of the platform.
They did. They have resorted to selling ad space so Steemit probably wont make it considering the number of daily users. A pathetic number. The good news is the wallet is separate so when Steemit goes the entire system won't be dragged down. A smart move, actually. They should just let dapps take center stage and focus on the wallet and blockchain. Drug Wars is crushing it on Dapps usage, and Steem Monsters will probably grow even more with non-steemit users now that the wallet is separate, so Steem looks safe.
Good point. I wish I could look at the numbers but there's a chance Steemit is now viable. Worst case they should be able to freeze development and only run the website.
