Inktober 4: Cactus

Day 4 and ya girl I still going XD I actually finished this one yesterday and I think I am halfway done with my day 5 prompt so that's promising. I think if I didn't nap as much with the cat, I would be doing prompt 6 now... but oh well ;;w;; time with th cat and rest is a very important part of the weekend and I wouldn't have it any other way. Plus the prompt was an easy one this time XD I gave up trying to get tat creative with it yesterday and told myself "let's just take this literally for now" and I did! and I finished in just 2 hours total UwU

So day 4 is cactus and I made a cute cactus!

Materials: liquid ink, fineliners, neon pens
Duration: 2 hours

For my progress on this one, I didn't go full detail right away because I really wanted a nap XD so what I did i, I just penned I the shapes an then painted over them with the ink

So brown background and the little cactus balls

Then I added some depth and layered the colors a bit. I want to think I'm actually getting better at painting lately XD but I know I still need some work done to improve it. Anyway, this is the point where me and the cat had that nap 🤣 we love naps also by the time we were up and he was demanding an afternoon snack, it was fully dry and I got to pen it in a bit more

I started the pen details with a lot of basic hatching for depth with the fineliner then I just supplemented more colors with a green colored pen I had. It was cute and it emphasizesmd the color grading a bit more so I'll keep this technique handy for something similar in the future XD

But after much hatching and adding little spikes and highlights, I finished fairly fast for this one and I really liked how this came out too. Similar but still different from the snail one yesterday. Still soft though but this feels more like a raw, rough sketch on some travelling artist's sketchbook.

And now that I am done with prompt 4 ^^ I shall try to finish my prompt 5 today but I kinda doubt it since it's a bit more complicated than the last 2 ones I worked on 😅😅 and I kinda regret my choice but it is a mood. A very very solid and constant mood I have at work these days 🥲

So that's all from me for now. I shall hopefully be back tomorrow to continue this attempt and if not, you guys know that work got me and did not let me escape 😭
