Today My Brother Nasir Lost His Mother — And I Have Never Felt So Helpless in My Life. And a World Lost a Mother

Today is one of the saddest days of my life.

I am not writing this post to share a project update, an announcement, or a new feature. I am writing this because I am hurting, and the only place I feel comfortable enough to express that pain is here, in the HiveDev community. This community is not just a community to me. It is my family.

Some of you know Nasir Aslam, @nasiraslam on Hive (HivePostify). He is not just a friend. He is like a brother to me.

Last Sunday, we spoke. It was a normal conversation, like we always have. But after that message, he went quiet. He did not reply to anything. That is unlike him. He has never done that before. I kept messaging him, not because I was upset, but because something in my heart told me that something was wrong. Something serious.

Today, April 23, 2026, around 5:00 AM, his mother passed away.

I did not find out until around 1:00 PM. By then, I had already sent him many messages. When I finally learned the reason for his silence, I broke.

I looked at his face today and I could see it a person who perhaps has not slept in days. A weight that no words can describe. There is a pain in losing a mother that no one can fully understand until they face it themselves.

"And your Lord has decreed that you not worship except Him, and to parents, good treatment."
Surah Al-Isra, 17:23

I am posting this in HiveDevs because almost all of my posts are here. This is where I belong. This is the family I have built over the past year. And when something shakes you to your core, you turn to family.

To everyone reading this please make dua for Nasir's mother.

اللهم اغفر لها وارحمها وعافها واعف عنها
O Allah, forgive her, have mercy on her, grant her well-being, and pardon her.

May Allah grant her the highest place in Jannah. May Allah give Nasir the strength and patience to carry this weight. And may Allah protect all of our mothers.
