[News] Looking for Tester!

avatar

Our "Hive Discover" service has been available to everyone since last week and the first users have already had content recommended by our AI. Unfortunately, we do not know how their user experience was and how they think about the suggested content. That is why we are calling for a big feedback round: We are looking for interested people who have some free time and enjoy testing new things. We would like to ask you to use our service and think about topics such as user experience, the relevance of suggested posts and functionality. After that, a simple comment below will suffice. But if you want, you can also write a separate post and tag us. We will take the comments/posts to heart!
Link to our service: https://beta.hive-discover.tech

What is „Hive Discover“?

Hive Discover is a new service in the HIVE Ecosystem to help find or discover content. For this, we did not just develop a blunt search engine. Instead, we created an AI that does the job. This AI analyses any post on the HIVE blockchain and suggests qualitative content to you. The information for this is simply read from user activities like recent votes or posts.

What data do we use and how do we use it?

In general, we can proudly say that we only store the most necessary data. This starts with the login, where we only ask for a key to verify your identity using Hivesigner and do not ask for permissions to post or vote, for example. Furthermore, we only store data locally for the last 100 days. This means that all posts are automatically deleted after this period. We do store accounts permanently, but in two different states: On the one hand, we have stored the general account; more precisely, the username and the profile information (name, location, description...). We need this for the account search. On the other hand, we save the last votes of active users, i. e. those who have registered, because these are needed by our AI. But here, too, we can only find votes from the last 100 days. You can also say at any time that you want your data to be deleted. Just go to the settings.
Those who do not want us to have information about them can also enter this in the settings (at a later date, this setting option will be optimised with the help of Custom Json Operations).

What could the future look like?

After this feedback round, we will first look at what we should improve. However, this could take some time. After that, we plan to improve topics like the suggestion algorithm and text analysis. We also plan to provide an API that would allow Front-ends to interact directly with our service. As a result, the user experience could increase dramatically because you would no longer have to switch websites. However, it is not clear at the moment when we will get to work on this.
What is clear, however, is that our service will remain free for everyone. Even when the API comes, it will be free to use!

Stay healthy, Team Action-Chain

Okay thanks for the information, I had already seen it before but I had my doubts about using my passwords on that site.

I'll give it a look to see what it's all about and how it works.

just tested it and I could see a break down of what I am more interested in. also the suggested posts were tailored to my taste and the feeds were great.

but right on the chart, a section keeps saying loading but this takes time and I ended up not waiting for it to load

Greetings, visit the site and has a friendly and understandable interface, use your search engine and locate everything related to the topic you are looking for.

Very good initiative.

Sounds like the Matrix I wrote about in my last post😀. Does artificial intelligence follow the last post votes? How about video content? Does it also search for good video content? So far so many questions hehe.

Hey @jozef230,
Unfortunately we can't recommend videos at the moment because our AI doesn't understand them 😁. But you gave us a good idea what we definitely want to implement. Thanks for that!

Hello, @action-chain

I have always wanted a system that allows you to search extensively within steemit and hive. I wonder if it also works for steemit?

At first, it showed me while analyzing my content, other areas than what it finally got. As you can see in the image.

I can say that it's okay, however, my content has been moving towards creating stories lately. But the system doesn't show that ranking in its graph. Initially, it did, but then it disappeared.

I love that it has options to delete our content from all searches (that's inside settings). I guess there are people who value the privacy of their content (I guess).

But I don't understand why when I go to the explore option I don't see what I like the most: contests, most of my posts are content for contests, whether they are about writing, technology, life, teaching, etc.

It is an excellent job you have done in providing this magnificent and necessary tool.

Congratulations :D

Hey @jadams2k18,
thanks first of all for your feedback. The reason why some categories disappear in time is due to our account analysis. We use your activity (voting/posting) over the last 100 days to create your profile. What's special about this is that it looks at your account backwards, so your latest activity is seen first. Therefore, it can happen that the ranking is initially correct and deviates a little in the course. This is especially the case when you shift your interests; similar to how you described your change.
Nevertheless, we have added your objection to our list and will try to provide a solution soon! Thank you😀

It's good to know :D

However, it is undoubtedly an excellent tool, much better than the conventional search system that both platforms have.

Greetings, @action-chain.

My suggestion for your search engine is the inclusion of "wildcard characters" that allow more specific searches.

I assume you use post tags as keys for "topic tracking".
The weakness of your system occurs when the user needs to combine several tags to make a search.
For instance:
Venezuela + Dentistry
topicX = Venezuela
topicY = Dentistry

The result obtained shows the result of applying the logic gate "OR", instead of using "AND".

Namely:
topicX.OR.topicY
when actually it should show the results for:
topicX.AND.topicY

It is an easy weakness to correct. You could implement characters that function as "Joker" and allow the logic gates to be symbolized. "AND" is generally represented by the "+" character, while " " (White space) is used to represent "OR".

I hope I was able to explain my point clearly, and help you in some way.

In addition:
The App should allow ordering the search results according to the user's criteria: date of publication, alphabetically, amount of the reward, the number of upvotes received ... etc.

I think this could be very useful. I will test it out.
